Stiliana Popova-Kuritko

studied piano and composition at the ‘P. Vladigerov’ Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria, after completing her Matura (secondary-school diploma) at the ‘D. Christov’ Music Gymnasium in Varna. From 1983 to 2001 she worked as a pianist, répétiteur, piano teacher and arranger in Bulgaria, Cyprus and South Africa. In 2001 she moved to Austria, where in 2007 she completed her studies in composition and theory with Gunter Waldek at the Anton Bruckner Private University with distinction. Since 2007 she has worked as a piano and theory teacher and répétiteur at the Music School of the City of Linz. In 2017 she was awarded the Anton Bruckner Scholarship for Composition. That same year, her book “Neue Wege zur Musiklehre” (“New Paths to Music Theory”) was published.
